I travelled to Trichy a Friday night (17th June 2011) in a bus called MJT travels, booked the tickets online from www.redbus.in , the site said it’s a AC (2+2) Semi sleeper and the price was Rs. 500. Since I had no prior experience travelling by buses (I always prefer train), I booked these tickets and I did harvest my reward - pathetic service from the bus operator.
The bus was supposed to arrive at Perungalathur by 11.59 PM, when requested, I was denied pick up at Guduvancheri (which is on the way). So I had to travel to Perungalathur by 11.00 PM itself (as there will be no buses/trains after that). There was no bus stand or MJT office for passengers to wait neither any hotels / tea shops in the night at the bus stop. All my calls to the mobile number provided were answered by a moron and he continuously gave wrong positions of the bus asking me to wait. Eventually, bus reached perungalathur by 1.00 AM, It was an ordinary air bus converted in to an AC one with not so comfortable seats. It reached Trichy by 6.45 AM, late by more than an hour.
Overall, MJT bus travel was not at all pleasant and it was not worth Rs. 500!! A similar bus offered return journey from Trichy bus stand for Rs. 200, But I decided to travel by SETC AC bus for Rs. 250, It was much more comfortable and offered to drop me at Guduvancheri itself!
So guys please be careful when you are booking tickets online and avoid these semi sleeper buses of MJT travels, instead pay 100 or 200 bucks extra and take a Volvo.
Happy Travelling!
