Lumia or a Windows phone was nowhere in my radar when I wanted to change my phone, a 24 months old Samsung Galaxy S+ or i9001 as the website calls it. Some of my friends had bought Lumia 520 and praised it for the fluidic OS and sturdy build quality. Slowly, in couple of months some of my well known contacts bought this Nokia Lumia Series Smartphone.
Lumia 720 (My Fiancée), Lumia 625 (My Brother), Lumia 920 (A colleague) & Lumia 925 (My flat mate) + my cousin was using a Lumia 800 for more than a year, and she was all praising it except the bad battery backup. Myself, fascinated by its looks and not-so-lagging OS and with a strong recommendation by my fiancée, ended up buying a White Nokia Lumia 720 for Rs. 11,750, in exchange of my old, battered and bruised Galaxy S+, there was some buy back offer during Jan’14.
I liked this phone, it was fluidic as expected, and not spammed by sooo many buggy apps. Battery was an issue, thanks to laptops and car chargers. Full battery can drain in 12 – 15 hours of moderate usage (calls, texts, whatsapp, FB, emails). Good sound quality and phone had a great character (I don’t know how many of you can relate to, when I mean Character – It just behaved well).
Albeit, 100’s of pros, I’m now one among those millions of frustrated users of this phone. I dropped it accidentally and the screen shattered. I’m not alone, trust me… all the well-known contacts I mentioned a while ago, who had this Mad, Made to break Nokia Lumia phones, shared my frustration! Yes, all their screens were shattered with slightest of mistakes (Imagine 5 Lumias around me with broken screen!). I agree, a phone should not be dropped, but where is the sturdiness/ quality or whatever you call it? I have dropped my Galaxy a zillion times… The screen was intact!

Nokia care charges Rs.8,000 to replace the LCD + Digitizer of Lumia 720, a simple google search will educate you that,if the images in your phone (under the glass) are clear, only the top glass, which is the touch screen or commonly called as digitizer needs to be changed, It costs only $20 in online stores, but Nokia Care will not do that.. They want you to pay 60% of phone’s cost to get the screen replaced. Bull Crap. I’m not going to buy a Nokia again.
Go for Xolo, I hear amazing reviews about their products (Yes, they are a little bad on after sales service, but we can't expect more from a budget phone maker)
BTW, I’m so frustrated because this phone is my fiancée’s first gift to me and it is broken!

I've purchased a Xolo Opus 1000 for my fiancée as a replacement for her broken Lumia 720 (See the pic above). It's cool.. More to come soon.
