I was travelling down from Bangalore to Chennai this Saturday (17th Apr) in Chennai Mail. Around 10.30 PM the usual trouble started, a transgender came and started troubling me with disgusting body language asking for some money, this is not the first time I’m coming across this. I was on the phone and said I don’t have change and He/She said they have got change and plucked Rs.100 from me and started moving without giving me any balance. I was shocked to see this rude behavior, then I had to chase them for four compartments to recover only Rs.50.
These people target only men, they touch and irritate, and sometimes use foul language when we refuse to give them money. When I approached the Ticket Inspector with this, he was just telling me that I should not give them money. How can someone not give money and withstand this irritating behavior of Transgenders? Railways should take some serious action against this and protect passengers. These people may also be associated with thefts in trains.
Many NGO and Charitable organizations across the country are working for the upliftment of Trans-gender community, whereas still a majority of them involve in these kind of cheap activates like begging and prostitution. Even our government has given so many privileges to them and a separate quota to get good jobs! I really don’t know whether to sympathize for them or raise voice against their activities.
